Here are the ten facts that I learned after reading this book -

  1. etsy Ross is famous for sewing the National Flag but some people doubt it as there is no proof .
  2. Betsy Ross' Full name was Elizabeth Griscom Ross Ashburn Claypool  and she born in a Quaker family.
  3. Betsy gave birth to 7 children . Out of these seven , one gave birth to twins and named one after her.
  4. Betsy had fourteen sibling while growing up and her dad worked in making houses and furniture.
  5. Betsy Ross was born on New Year Day in 1752 in Philadelphia and also died there at the age of 84.
  6. She started working at a very young age of twelve as a seamstress .
  7. Most of her family members died from yellow fever .
  8. She made blankets and tents for the American army and later she made flags for battle ships .
  9. It was her grandson who claimed that she sewed the first American National Flag though she never claimed it in her lifetime.
  10. She stayed in Philadelphia even when the British captured the city .
It is a great non fiction choice if you want to know more about her !
